Eligibility

Tasmanian Affordable Housing Limited [TAHL] is required to provide housing to people on the Housing Tasmania waiting list. You must be registered on the Housing Tasmania waiting list to be eligible for TAHL houses.

Rent Policy

TAHL establishes a rent for all houses. This is known as the TAHL Rent.

It is important for TAHL to know the maximum amount a household can pay in rent. This is calculated as -

30% of eligible household income + Commonwealth Rent Assistance.

The rent paid by a household is the LOWER of:

> The TAHL Rent [currently $195 per week]; or

> 30% of eligible household income + Commonwealth Rent Assistance.

TAHL uses the same sources of income as Housing Tasmania in assessing the maximum rent a household can pay.
