$65m PROGRAM TO DELIVER 300 AFFORDABLE HOMES
A landmark $65 million program to build around 300 new affordable homes across Tasmania over the next three years was launched on 1 May 2008 by the State Government and Tasmanian Affordable Housing Limited [TAHL].
The Minister for Health and Human Services, Ms Giddings said agreement had been reached on preferred tenderers for the development of around 300 houses and units across the State, most on publicly-owned sites which would be sold to the developers.
The Chairwoman of TAHL, Ms Lynn Mason said the objective for TAHL is to give Tasmanians who need a home the benefits that come from a permanent dwelling - every night, every year in a socially inclusive community.
